about

Spring-cleaning. I push the cupboard aside to see if anything is growing behind it. Just a few cobwebs and some dust.
Well done, the regular sweeping keeps the dust from getting behind the cabinets.

As I sweep the apartment, my thoughts race and fly around. The window is open, birdsong heralds the arrival of spring. It's already warm outside.
The apartments are no longer heated, so they have cooled down. You have to move around to keep from freezing. Hence, the spring-cleaning.

Thoughts continue to circle, listening to the chirping of birds.
The birds don't chatter. Never. Every sound has a purpose. Nest building. Fetching food for hungry offspring. Establishing territories.
And the watchful birds warn. An enemy on the ground or a bird of prey is approaching.

It becomes quiet. Everything has gone into hiding. The hawk makes his deadly circles. Maybe he'll get that sparrow over there.
The sparrow has eaten seeds and has not digested them. Later, the hawk excretes the seeds, and a big tree grows out of it, and the birds nest in it, and they don't chatter.

The only creature on this planet that babbles seems to be man.
Talk, babble, chatter. A wear and tear of words.
And because people can't fly, their thoughts fly.
