As much an item for the Tangerine Dream nostalgist as TaboTago's Kymatica, but this time Bernard (who is part of TaboTago) intentionally aims on TD's Zeit, their monolithic 1972 album.
To keep the form, Elsewhere also consists of 4 long pieces. This music has much more to do with atmosphere than melody or rhythm. Very "kosmisch", very "Berliner Schule"!
And, if you own a surround system, definitely go to surroundmusic.one to get the 5.1 version, it's a real treat! Favorite track: Weisses Venn.

This album offers the listener a sublime experience of melodic modulation.
These lengthy pieces veer towards atonality, but these angular qualities are given shape and a sense of polyphony through the contrasting (almost competing) rhythmic structures.
As the songs progress, they become more and more melodic; a sense of calm and balance emerging from the chaos.
This is a meditative album in many ways, but one that offers challenge as much as calm. I play it often. Favorite track: Weisses Venn.

It really has life of its own. Rich, layered and beautiful. Makes you want to dance, to fly or to glide. It took me a while to finally sit down and listen to it and now I can't help but to think of it as a wonderful dormant beast waiting to unravel its cosmic grace.

In 2000, Bernhard Wöstheinrich and Markus Reuter recorded Blast, their first album as a duo. Comprising of four monumental, otherworldly compositions spread out across as many sides of vinyl, the music was an overt tribute: "I had discovered Tangerine Dream's Zeit sometime in the late 1980s and it had blown me away," Wöstheinrich says, "I remember thinking to myself: This is the album I've been waiting for my entire life!" More than three decades later, he now presents Elsewhere - a record that once again feels deeply inspired by the Krautrock classics.
Recorded entirely live and again produced by Reuter, Elsewhere's four epic sequencer journeys ignite a black dance of hypnotic pulses, surreal electronic silhouettes and mood music for sentimental cyborgs. The record was created with a minimal, but carefully honed set-up to create these floating and flowing studies in rhythm and time.
Despite its modern leanings, Elsewhere is decidedly part of a continuum that stretches from Zeit to the present day. It is unlikely that this album will have the same impact that Tangerine Dream's 'Zeit' once did – in a sense, this may be impossible for any release. But it is the album Wöstheinrich was meant to record his entire life.
