Bernhard Wöstheinrich and Nadim Haque performed this set as a concert broadcast live on "Codos Traumreisen" at the Dortmund, Germany radio station eldoradio* in December 2010.
The album follows the sequence of the 100-minute live improvisation but takes ample liberties to present a CD-length story in three chapters and a new mix that wasn't possible in real-time.
Although the concert was originally recorded in lossless format as a pre-broadcast mix, that version was unfortunately lost due to a software glitch during recording. Anentropic Potential is thus based on the broadcast mix, the radio station's own cut of the 192kbps MP3 stream. Bernhard and Nadim decided to accept and amplify the compression artefacts and slightly limited frequency spectrum of the MP3 format and use these as additional instruments on this album. Nadim's mix itself is more concerned with emphasizing the (imagined) story behind the music than being technically correct according to accepted standards; Markus Reuter adopted that idea for mastering and amplified it to enhance the stark, expressive sound Bernhard and Nadim had in mind.
